Win a Share of $1.5 Million in PokerStars’ Tetris® Spin & Go Games
By admin | | 0 Comments |

February 16, 2021 Matthew Pitt Tetris® combines with Spin & Go tournaments at PokerStars in a fun promotion that sees $1.5 million paid out between February 15 and March 28. Head to the Spin & Go lobby in the PokerStars client and you’ll see there are Tetris® Spin & Go games with buy-ins of $0.25, $1, $2, $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, $250, and $500. They all play out the exact same way as a traditional Spin & Go, meaning they’re three-handed hyper-turbo tournaments where the prize pool is randomly determined before the first hand is dealt. It’s still possible to win up to $1 million in some of these game, but there are a few notable differences. First, the virtual felt is made up of Tetris® blocks, which actually looks pretty cool. Also, the dealer button is now a Tetris® block too, and other blocks fall down the screen. The Tetris® part of the promotion comes in the form of leaderboards. There’s a separate leaderboard for each Tetris® Spin & Go buy-in level, so 10 in total. You need to opt-in and then fire up some Tetris® Spin & Go tournaments. Play your tournaments as you would ordinarily, but do so knowing the aim of the game is to clear lines, just like in Tetris®. The number of lines you clear depends on your Spin & Go multiplier and your finishing position in the tournament. Your level increases each time you clear five lines. This results in you earning even more points so you can climb up your leaderboard faster. The 2021 Guide to PokerStars Spin and Go Poker How Many Lines Do I Clear?  1st2nd3rd 2x432 3x321 Over 3x211 As you can see from the table above, finishing in 1st place in a Tetris® Spin & Go that has a 2x multiplier clears four lines. Just playing a tournament earns you points. How Do You Earn Points? The number of leaderboard points you earn is based on your finishing position and your current level. You start off earning 40 points for clearing one line when you’re at Level 0, but this increases to 840 points if you manage to climb to Level 20, which is the highest level you can achieve. It is possible to earn up to 25,200 points per Tetris® Spin & Go tournament, as you can see in this table. The $0.25, $1, $2, and $5 leaderboard payout the top 100 points earners, so you have a decent chance of walking away with a cash prize. The prizes don’t have any restrictions on them meaning you’re free to do with them as you wish.  $0.25$1$2$5$10$25$50$100$250$500 1$50$150$250$400$500$500$750$1,000$1,500$3,000 2$40$100$200$300$400$400$600$800$1,000  3$30$75$150$250$350$350$500$600$750  4$20$50$100$200$300$300$400$500$500  5$15$25$50$150$250$250$300$400$500  6-10$10$20$40$100$150$150$150$200   11-20$5$10$20$50$100$100$100$100   21-50$5$5$10$25$50$50     51-100$5$5$5$10       Spin & Go Your Way to a PokerStars Sunday Million Seat The Tetris® Playing Field – Avoid Hitting Game Over There’s an extra element to this promotion that you have to be aware of at all times. PokerStars calls it the Playing Field. Just like in a game of Tetris® where it is Game Over when the blocks reach the top of the screen, it can be game over for you if you go on a streak of out of the money finishes! Finishing in first place either improves your Playing Field status or makes zero change to it. Finish in second place, however, and your Playing Field status either stays the same or actually worsens, which is also the case when you finish in third place. Your table, or playing field, is green in color when your Playing Field is in a good state. It turns amber when it is worsening and turns red when you’re in big trouble. Failing to win when your playing field is red could see you reach Game Over which means you cannot earn any more leaderboard points until the next day! The changes to your playing field status depend on your current level.  1st place 2nd place 3rd place   LevelImproveNo ChangeNo ChanceWorsenNo ChangeWorsen  0-1100%0%100%0%100%0%  2-580%20%80%20%50%50%  6-960%40%60%40%40%60%  10-1340%60%40%60%30%70%  14-1720%80%20%80%200%80%  18-2020%80%20%80%10%90%  Get Involved in the Tetris® Spin & Go Promotion With $33,000 waiting to be won every day until March 28 there’s no time to waste if you want to win some free cash. ‘England spinners need control to go with wickets’
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Moeen Ali took eight wickets in the match but struggled for control in the first innings (Pic credit - BCCI) Nasser Hussain reflects on England's defeat in the second Test and believes despite the spinners continuing to take wickets, they need to be able to offer Joe Root more control, while the batsmen can learn from India's efforts on turning tracks... England were completely outplayed in pretty much every department on a very difficult, but not impossible, pitch.I think the toss was more important in the first game when the pitch was flat for two days. Here it started turning after about an hour so, obviously, it was important but not as important. England need to dust themselves off, not moan about the pitch, the toss, DRS, umpires or whatever and just try and rectify and improve in the areas they were found short - and knowing this side, I think that is exactly what they will do. 0:56 England captain Joe Root says his squad must not get too down about their heavy defeat in the second Test against India England captain Joe Root says his squad must not get too down about their heavy defeat in the second Test against India For me, even though they got wickets again and continue to get wickets, the biggest issue is the consistency in the spin department. It is not just this Test match, if you look back at Sri Lanka, Jack Leach and Dom Bess got wickets but Bess, in particular, was very inconsistent with his length. In this game, Moeen Ali got eight wickets in the match and bowled well at times - he bowled some real beauties, like the one to bowl Virat Kohli in the first innings and got him out twice in the game - but Mo himself will admit that in that first innings, he didn't quite have the control and 4-128 is not what you're looking for on such a minefield for the spinners. If you compare that to how India's two spinners bowled and the control of Ravichandran Ashwin, they didn't do anything magical, they just jammed it in there ball after ball. Ravichandran Ashwin was named player of the match after starring with bat and ball (Pic credit - BCCI) I can't remember a period of four Test matches where I've seen more full tosses from England's off-spinners, Bess and Mo, this winter. Wrist-spin is a difficult art and you can give people like Kuldeep Yadav and Adil Rashid a bit of leeway, but a finger spinner should have control of their length.Moeen has some very good reasons for it, he hasn't played a Test since the first Ashes match at Edgbaston in 2019, played very little red-ball cricket, comes back and has Covid on tour then is straight into a Test match. He got better as the game progressed, he bowled better in the second innings. But if you're asking me the main reason why England lost the Test match, I would say if you look at India's main two spinners - Ashwin and Axar Patel - they were more consistent than the England spinners. Dom Bess was left out of the second Test and consistency has been his main issue this winter (Pic credit - BCCI) People will say, 'hold on, you only got 130 and 160, what about the batsmen?' The way that Axar and Ashwin bowled, when you're coming in on day two, three and four, that was about as difficult as it gets batting; turn and bounce from just about every length and every delivery, the sweep shot became riskier. It wasn't a case of which shots you could and couldn't play, it was about which shots had what percentage risk; in the last game the sweep shot was low risk, in this game with the way it was bouncing and exploding, it was high risk as Joe Root found out in the first innings, Ollie Pope and Ben Foakes in the second. You have to realise that it is riskier than the last game but you still have to play it because there was always a ball with your name on. It's just it as risky to stand there and try to defend. What I thought they could have done more of in the first innings is use their feet, try and get to the pitch of the ball, try and smother it.They tried that in the second innings, they were more proactive but by then it was too late so plenty to work on. Root battled in England's second innings before falling to Axar Patel (Pic credit - BCCI) I didn't watch any of that batting and think 'oh my goodness, what are they doing!?' I watched it and thought it looked extremely difficult - that doesn't mean you give up or you don't try, Root battled hard in that second innings and Mo at the end played some shots - but you have to find a way.You have to be busy on pitches like that, you can't just sit in and defend; it is only a matter of time if you just try and defend on a pitch like that. Live Pakistan Super League February 20, 2021, 1:50pm Live on I can't be overly critical of England's batting. They can learn though; India had a batsman in Rohit Sharma who scored nearly 200 runs on it and they had a bowling all-rounder in Ashwin who got a second-innings hundred on it so it was not impossible. England have got to look at that and ask what Rohit and Ashwin did so well to try and learn and improve. There has got to be a strong attitude and a mindset now. When you go to India, you expect to get a pitch like that and you may get another one, we don't know what Ahmedabad is going to be like under the lights. Rohit Sharma showed it was possible to score runs on a very challenging Chennai pitch (Pic credit - BCCI) But one of the pitches in the last two Tests may be another dustbowl and England have got to work out how they are going to play and improve on it.With this England side, let's not get too up when they win and too down when they lose, they had won six in a row away from home and they are a side that's improving but this was a chastening defeat. It was about as tricky as it gets for an English cricketer but that's what the challenge is playing away from home, the same way as it is when you go to Australia and we used to have to cope with the bounce at Perth or when players come to England and have to cope with the moving Dukes ball - it is part of being an all-round cricketer and occasionally you get pitches like that. But even so, the major point I would make - and this is not a criticism of the individual bowlers, not of Mo, in particular - is about the consistency of the spin bowling over the winter. They have taken wickets, I can't stress that enough, and their stats are absolutely fine but Joe can't set fields to it because there is always a full toss or a short ball to think about. Axar Patel had a debut to remember as he claimed a second-innings five-for (Pic credit - BCCI) And just as a batsman, when you're playing Ashwin and Axar and not getting a ball to hit and you're going nowhere, it just takes a full toss or a long hop and suddenly you're 15 or 20 and feeling so much more comfortable. India aren't giving England's batsmen that but has been the case when England have been bowling. It is not just about the three England spinners we've seen this winter, it is a more general point about English cricket and what we need to do to help our spinners to become more consistent. When Somerset produce a pitch at Taunton like the one we've just seen in Chennai, they get docked points, then there is where and when we play our red-ball cricket. These guys Axar and Ashwin have been brought up bowling over after over after over whereas we don't play the right type of cricket at the right time of year to give our spinners the right type of pitches. They have to take some responsibility as well, the batsmen too after a defeat like that, but it was very difficult.Follow text commentary of the day-night third Test between India and England in Ahmedabad on skysports.com and the Sky Sports app from 8.30am on Wednesday, February 24. .

Timothy Adams wins PokerStars blowout PKO high roller for $167,591
By admin | | 0 Comments |

The latest PokerStars winner of their Blowout Series events is the biggest winner of 2020 at the live felt- Canadian pro Timothy Adams.Taking down the Progressive Knockout High Roller NLHE event which cost $5,200 to enter and saw 148 entries in total, Adams would earn $167,591 for his latest phenomenal performance at a final table that featured players such as Matthias Eibinger, Patrick Leonard and Ole Schemion. With eight players assembling at the official final table in the tournament, it was Eibinger who busted first, his move with ace-five shot down in flames when running into Ramiro Petrone’s suited ace-king that found a flush by the river. With seven left, it was Petrone who left next, the Argentinian going down in the big blind, correctly calling off the small blind shove from Finnish player Eelis Parssinen. Petrone’s queen-ten was ahead of nine-six off-suit, but a nine on the turn did for the South American’s hopes of spinning up his 11 big blind stack before the hand.It was Ole Schemion who busted in 6th place for a total prize of $23,426 when his ace-queen shove pre-flop was dominated and delivered by Timothy Adams’ ace-king, giving the Canadian the lead from British star Patrick Leonard. With five players left the stacks went this way and that before Patrick Leonard found himself short-stacked and turning a spade flush holding jack-nine of spades with a one-ended redraw to a straight flush. Oddly, the hand went to the river before the money went in, but when it did and Leonard’s effective shove for 18.5 big blinds leaving half a blind back was ‘raise-called’ by Adams, the Canadian’s hand of queen-three of spades sent play four-handed with the following stacks:Timothy Adams – 6.24 million (89 big blinds)Eelis Parssinen – 3.79 million (54 big blinds)Dominykas Mikolaitis – 2.91 million (42 big blinds)‘CrazyLissy’ – 1.7 million (24 big blinds)It was ‘CrazyLissy’ who busted next, but thanks to plenty of bounties, the Russian earned over $56,000 and only a little less than the player who departed after him. CrazyLissy’s bounty went to Adams, however, courtesy of an all-in for 29 big blinds with ace-jack and a call with pocket kings and 90 big blinds by Adams. The Canadian was running roughshod over the table and that continued for the remainder of the tournament, which turned out to be less than ten minutes. The 3rd placed player was Lithuanian Dominykas Mikolaitis, who had just 22 bib blinds when ace-seven off-suit seemed enough to move all-in. Mikolaitis was called by Parsssinen, who held king-jack of spades and a king on the flop won the hand for the Finn, despite a worrying open-ended straight draw appearing on the turn to make matters a little sweaty.Heads-up may not have lasted long, but with Parssinen’s stack bumped up to 5.47 million (68bb) after winning that hand, it was no longer a guarantee for Adams to win, as the Canadian had 9.32 million (117bb).With the money chopped, the bounty prize would decide who ended up with the most money as well as the win, and it proved to be a huge hand that won it. Adams had swelled his lead a little in the first four minutes of the battle, and with a raise called, saw a flop of 5-2-Q with two spades, holding pocket queens. Parssinen bet 400,00 and was called. A brick on the turn saw another bet from Parssinen, this time for 880,000, this time prompting another call from the Canadian. On the nine of hearts river, and with four million in the pot, Parssinen shipped 37 big blinds and just under 3 million all-in and was snapped off by Adams, ending the contest in an exciting manner.PokerStars Blowout Series High Roller PKO Final Table Results:PlacePlayerCountryPlaceBountyTotal Prize1stTimothy AdamsCanada$70,755$96,836$167,5912ndEelis ParssinenFinland$70,755$31,211$101,9663rdDominykas MikolaitisLithuania$47,801$9,063$56,8634th‘CrazyLissy’Russia$37,004$19,375$56,3795thPatrick LeonardUnited Kingdom$28,646$1,875$30,5216thOle SchemionAustria$22,176$1,250$23,4267thRamiro PetroneUruguay$17,167$36,484$53,6528thMatthias EibingerAustria$13,290$11,875$25,165If you’d like to watch a full replay of the event’s dramatic final table, which lasts less than a movie at a neat and convenient 83 minutes, you can do so right here:

Remembering Leon Spinks’ forgotten upset over Ali 42 years ago today
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Did you know Leon Spinks once upset Muhammad Ali?Image: APLeon Spinks passed away on February 5 due to prostate cancer at the age of 67. On this date 42 years ago, he starred in one of sports’ larger-than-life upsets over one of the most unforgettable boxers to have ever stepped into a ring. If you compile your own Tale of the Tape retrospective, without any context, it wouldn’t make any sense. But when you watch Leon Spinks’ seemingly improbable outboxing of Muhammad Ali on this date in 1978, it’s a tale that tells itself.Perhaps Ali, who was 36 at the time of the fight, underestimated the 1976 Olympic Gold Medalist, who had 50 fewer pro fights than the champ and was 12 years his junior at just 24 years old. Watching the much-younger Spinks outwork, outland, and outclass Ali, then the WBC and WBA World Heavyweight Champion, you could see the classic unfolding of an ambitious challenger outpointing a legendary titleholder who owned the division for the better part of two decades. Still, it was clear that Ali was nearing the end of his once-illustrious career. So much so, in fact, that longtime Ali cornerman and physician Ferdie Pacheco, who was on commentary, reiterated his desire for Ali to retire during Round 1 of the bout.Ali, at 55 wins and 2 losses, with 37 knockouts, ventured into the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas as a 10-1 favorite. His idiosyncratic glow was still vibrant upon entry, but it was clear he wasn’t quite the same Ali who dethroned Sonny Liston in 1964, who devoured George Foreman in Zaire in 1974, and who derailed Joe Frazier in the Thrilla in Manila in 1975. He was even 17 months removed from defeating Ken Norton in Yankee Stadium in 1976. But even still, Spinks (6-0-1, 5 KOs) wasn’t supposed to arrive so emphatically. The challenger was four months removed from a draw with heavyweight journeyman Scott DeLoux, who entered his bout with Spinks, who was 5-0 at the time, with a record of 21-6-1, with 13 KOs. Spinks weighed 27 pounds fewer than Ali’s 224 on that night. Numerically, his split decision victory is not in a historical context matching Buster Douglas knocking out Mike Tyson, the 31-year-anniversary of which passed last Thursday. But Spinks defeating Ali remains an instrumental piece in the list of the 20th century’s biggest sports upsets. And it came at a time when boxing was still one of the most popular sports in America, with the fight airing on CBS for millions of viewers. “In that fight, everything clicked,” Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said of the bout. “[Spinks] came in with a game plan, and he beat Ali. It wasn’t that Ali wasn’t at his best, but Leon shocked everybody with how good Leon was.”G/O Media may get a commissionPerhaps it gets unfairly lost in the context of historical upsets because Ali immediately won their rematch seven months later — Ali winning the heavyweight title an unprecedented third time. The loss not only ended Spinks’ time as champion, but was the final victory of Ali’s historic career. Spinks’ career lasted another 17 years, though he only earned one other heavyweight title shot, losing to Larry Holmes in 1981 by TKO in Round 3. (He also lost a cruiserweight title shot to Dwight Muhammad Qawi in 1986.) It wasn’t Douglas-Tyson, Ali-Foreman, or Andy Ruiz versus Anthony Joshua in terms of upsets. However, it still deserves its place and remembrance as one of the incredible feats in heavyweight boxing history, and perhaps in all of sports. .

Poker in Print: Poker with presence: Unlocking the final 15% (2020)
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Some poker books that apply to strategy look at the specifics of your poker game and break them down bit by bit, building them up with stronger foundations. Either that or starting afresh, giving poker players new knowledge to fight with. What about a poker strategy book, however, that presumes the poker player in question already has the first 85% of the game taken care of?This week, Jason Su, the author of Poker with Presence: Unlocking the Final 15%, spoke on Twitter about the power of Fedor Holz’s magnetizing presence at the table and how it was the inspiration for him writing this book, published last May independently by the author himself. The notion of having a presence at the poker table is, of course, both an elusive one and something that some might argue is counter-productive. Some of the best players fade into the felt but make millions. So why should a poker player want to have a magnetic table presence?Well, the book goes a long way to explaining exactly this and can be used effectively as a guidebook to feeling comfortable at the poker table. Enjoying playing poker can benefit the player immensely and Su’s book is given some glowing references by a couple of really prominent voices in the industry.Matt Berkey said of the author: “I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Jason and I promise his wealth of knowledge on emotional intelligence and its application in a risk-based business is an untapped, hidden edge that few explore. Can’t recommend his work enough.”He’s not the only player to throw his weight behind Su’s work. Tommy Angelo, who we spoke to about his YouTube series with Lee Jones, Poker Simple, as well as dissecting his own legendary poker book, Elements of Poker, was happy to recommend the book. Angelo said, “I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve at poker, and anything else.”High praise indeed. While Jason Su has been a successful poker player, this is his first published book, but it doesn’t read like it for a second. We were really impressed with the arguments put forward and anecdotal and evidentiary points that contribute to the volume. There’s a lot more to come from Su in writing about poker, we’re sure, and for anyone considering how they can add that comfort and ‘X Factor’ to a successful poker game, this could be the perfect book to pick up and dive into whenever you need a pick-me-up.Whether you want some quick advice on improving your own table presence or want to look deeper into mindfulness, exercises and concepts that you won’t read in your regular poker strategy book, you should take a look at buying Jason Su’s Poker with Presence right here.

RB Leipzig vs Liverpool: 5 players to watch out for | UEFA Champions League 2020-21
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Liverpool will take on RB Leipzig in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round-of-16 tie on Tuesday, with the game set to be played at the Puskas Arena in Hungary.RB Leipzig will be slight favourites heading into the game because of their recent form. The East Germans have won four out of their last five games in all competitions and are in a good run of form.Liverpool, meanwhile, are in a tough spell and have lost their last three games. Jurgen Klopp’s men have been hampered by injuries and will head into the clash as underdogs. Both Klopp and Julian Nagelsmann have some good players nevertheless, and it is likely to be an entertaining tie when the two sides square off. So without further ado, let’s take a look at five players to watch from the tie:#1 Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)Mohamed Salah, the leading goal-scorer in the Premier League, has been in good form despite Liverpool’s poor run. Against a team like RB Leipzig, who are not expected to sit back, the Egyptian’s influence will be that much greater.Leipzig play a three-on-the-back system, so they are likely to double up on Salah when they don’t have the ball. However, considering how Leipzig press, Salah is likely to have more space to run into and attack come Tuesday.Salah is also pretty good at taking on defenders, especially when they are not sitting back during the transition. If he is on song, the Reds are more than likely to come up with an away goal or two.#2 Angelino (RB Leipzig) RB Leipzig's Angelino will be up against Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold on Tuesday Angelino’s impact at RB Leipzig has been so good that they did not even wait until the summer to make his loan move permanent. The former Manchester City wing-back has provided tenacity, drive and a few goals from the left wing and will be a threat to the Liverpool defence on Tuesday.Up against Trent Alexander-Arnold, who currently isn’t the most sound defensively, Angelino will fancy his chances. His work-rate is pretty impressive, so he will be a player to watch both on and off the ball.If he puts in a stellar display to help nullify the threat of Salah and test Alexander-Arnold, we could very well see Leipzig take a lead into the second leg. By admin | | 0 Comments |

Of all the players to fully embrace the modern poker career, Jason Koon is one of the most respected and revered players at the table. It’s been hard work to get to the top, but Jason Koon is today one of the best poker players of his generation. How did he get there, and which parts were inspiration and perspiration? Let’s take a look. The Cure Beats the InjuryJason Koon hails from West Virginia, and had a tough time growing up, victim of bullying and abuse, as he revealed in this highly personal interview. After graduating, gaining a Masters in Business Administration and Finance, Koon suffered an injury and while in recovery, started playing poker. With his education roomie teaching him NLHE, Koon started studying the game and made the most of his talents as quickly as he could. The Rise to the TopKoon played on PokerStars and Full Tilt, becoming highly profitable on both sites, including taking down a SCOOP event for over $300,000 and chopping a FTOPS event for over $450,000.Koon’s inexorable rise didn’t only come at the online felt. In live events, Koon cashed for the first time aged 23 in a $1,000-entry Deepstack event in Las Vegas. Koon loved Sin City, and of his first 18 cashes, 16 of them were in the Neon hub in Nevada.Koon started winning big, and not just in cash games. Tournament were started to be tamed by the man who was dedicated to his craft. Training to become physically strong, Koon was just as formidable at the tournament tables. He was winning six figure scores all over the place and his major event titles were right around the corner.King of the HillIt says a huge amount that Jason Koon’s biggest fans would appear to be his poker peers. Some of his biggest results have come in the toughest events, against the best players. At 35 years old, Koon might be the best player never to win a World Series of Poker bracelet, but it surely can’t be long until that fact is rendered untrue.Koon’s biggest live tournament cash is the $3.5 million he won by taking down the Triton Poker Short Deck event in Montenegro in 2018, but that’s just one of an amazing eight seven-figure results in the West Virginian’s career. Koon won a million dollars for the first time back in 2016 , taking down the $5,250-entry Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open in Hollywood. He’s won high rollers, super high rollers, and came third in the $300,000-entry Super High Roller Bowl in Las Vegas in 2018.At just 35 years old, if he wants it, a long and highly successful poker career is surely Koon’s for the taking. The work he puts into his game and staying in peak condition may be hard to maintain over the coming years, but as luminaries such as Phil Ivey can personally testify, if anyone can, Jason Koon can.
