Timothy Adams wins PokerStars blowout PKO high roller for $167,591
By admin | | 0 Comments |

The latest PokerStars winner of their Blowout Series events is the biggest winner of 2020 at the live felt- Canadian pro Timothy Adams.Taking down the Progressive Knockout High Roller NLHE event which cost $5,200 to enter and saw 148 entries in total, Adams would earn $167,591 for his latest phenomenal performance at a final table that featured players such as Matthias Eibinger, Patrick Leonard and Ole Schemion. With eight players assembling at the official final table in the tournament, it was Eibinger who busted first, his move with ace-five shot down in flames when running into Ramiro Petrone’s suited ace-king that found a flush by the river. With seven left, it was Petrone who left next, the Argentinian going down in the big blind, correctly calling off the small blind shove from Finnish player Eelis Parssinen. Petrone’s queen-ten was ahead of nine-six off-suit, but a nine on the turn did for the South American’s hopes of spinning up his 11 big blind stack before the hand.It was Ole Schemion who busted in 6th place for a total prize of $23,426 when his ace-queen shove pre-flop was dominated and delivered by Timothy Adams’ ace-king, giving the Canadian the lead from British star Patrick Leonard. With five players left the stacks went this way and that before Patrick Leonard found himself short-stacked and turning a spade flush holding jack-nine of spades with a one-ended redraw to a straight flush. Oddly, the hand went to the river before the money went in, but when it did and Leonard’s effective shove for 18.5 big blinds leaving half a blind back was ‘raise-called’ by Adams, the Canadian’s hand of queen-three of spades sent play four-handed with the following stacks:Timothy Adams – 6.24 million (89 big blinds)Eelis Parssinen – 3.79 million (54 big blinds)Dominykas Mikolaitis – 2.91 million (42 big blinds)‘CrazyLissy’ – 1.7 million (24 big blinds)It was ‘CrazyLissy’ who busted next, but thanks to plenty of bounties, the Russian earned over $56,000 and only a little less than the player who departed after him. CrazyLissy’s bounty went to Adams, however, courtesy of an all-in for 29 big blinds with ace-jack and a call with pocket kings and 90 big blinds by Adams. The Canadian was running roughshod over the table and that continued for the remainder of the tournament, which turned out to be less than ten minutes. The 3rd placed player was Lithuanian Dominykas Mikolaitis, who had just 22 bib blinds when ace-seven off-suit seemed enough to move all-in. Mikolaitis was called by Parsssinen, who held king-jack of spades and a king on the flop won the hand for the Finn, despite a worrying open-ended straight draw appearing on the turn to make matters a little sweaty.Heads-up may not have lasted long, but with Parssinen’s stack bumped up to 5.47 million (68bb) after winning that hand, it was no longer a guarantee for Adams to win, as the Canadian had 9.32 million (117bb).With the money chopped, the bounty prize would decide who ended up with the most money as well as the win, and it proved to be a huge hand that won it. Adams had swelled his lead a little in the first four minutes of the battle, and with a raise called, saw a flop of 5-2-Q with two spades, holding pocket queens. Parssinen bet 400,00 and was called. A brick on the turn saw another bet from Parssinen, this time for 880,000, this time prompting another call from the Canadian. On the nine of hearts river, and with four million in the pot, Parssinen shipped 37 big blinds and just under 3 million all-in and was snapped off by Adams, ending the contest in an exciting manner.PokerStars Blowout Series High Roller PKO Final Table Results:PlacePlayerCountryPlaceBountyTotal Prize1stTimothy AdamsCanada$70,755$96,836$167,5912ndEelis ParssinenFinland$70,755$31,211$101,9663rdDominykas MikolaitisLithuania$47,801$9,063$56,8634th‘CrazyLissy’Russia$37,004$19,375$56,3795thPatrick LeonardUnited Kingdom$28,646$1,875$30,5216thOle SchemionAustria$22,176$1,250$23,4267thRamiro PetroneUruguay$17,167$36,484$53,6528thMatthias EibingerAustria$13,290$11,875$25,165If you’d like to watch a full replay of the event’s dramatic final table, which lasts less than a movie at a neat and convenient 83 minutes, you can do so right here:

Kohli: Gritty batting made the difference
By admin | | 0 Comments |

India bowled England out for 164 in their second innings, with Axar Patel taking 5-60 and Ravi Ashwin 3-53 to secure a 317-run victory and level the series 1-1; the third Test begins in Ahmedabad on February 24 Last Updated: 16/02/21 9:32am Virat Kohli ended his losing streak as India captain in emphatic style as his side crushed England by 317 runs in Chennai (Pic credit - BCCI) Victorious India captain Virat Kohli felt his side's "grit and determination" with the bat was decisive after they overwhelmed England by 317 runs to win the second Test in Chennai. India's batsmen mastered the crumbling pitch well enough on the third day to score 286 in their second innings and build an unassailable lead before bowling the tourists out for just 164 as they levelled the four-match series 1-1.While Moeen Ali's late flourish for 43 off 18 balls represented England's highest score in the match, India were indebted to centuries in each innings from Rohit Sharma and Ravi Ashwin respectively, as well as three other players passing 50. "Our application with the bat was outstanding in this game," said Kohli. "The conditions were challenging for both sides but we showed more application, grit and determination to battle it out. Virat Kohli, who scored 62 in India's second innings, was one of five home batsmen to pass 50 during the second Test "We didn't panic out there, looking at the amount of turn and bounce - we trusted our defence and we scored 600 runs total. If we put up that kind of performance, then we know our bowlers are going to do the job in home conditions."We believed we could get runs on that pitch and it wasn't unfair if the toss went either way. I don't think on that pitch it would have mattered very much."If you look at our second innings on day three, we still applied ourselves and got almost 300. Both teams had to apply themselves and that's what you want in Test cricket from the first session onwards."Ashwin, who finished with overall figures of 8-96, was named player of the match but it was fellow spinner Axar Patel who grabbed the limelight in England's second innings as he took 5-60 on his Test debut. Rishabh Pant stumped Dan Lawrence to reduce England to 66-4 on the final morning in Chennai (Pic credit - BCCI) Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, who had struck an unbeaten 58 in India's first innings, also impressed with the gloves as he pulled off stumpings to dismiss Dan Lawrence and Moeen on the final day."He's worked a lot physically in (the tour of) Australia," said Kohli. "He's shed a lot of weight and become quicker on his feet and that's showing. The way he kept on this pitch, with so much turn and bounce, was a credit to him for working so hard."With a super-skilled batsman like him, you won't really see the difference in batting, but when he moves with the gloves you can see the difference in his reactions and reflexes."We want him to keep improving as a keeper and get stronger and stronger with his skill sets because we understand how much value he brings to the team."The India skipper indicated that left-armer Axar would retain his place for the remaining two Tests in the series, which both take place at Ahmedabad. Left-arm spinner Axar Patel marked his Test debut with figures of 5-60 in the second innings (Pic credit - BCCI) The first of those is a day-night encounter, beginning a week on Wednesday, when paceman Jasprit Bumrah is expected to return to the India line-up after being rested for the second Chennai Test."It's a special moment for Axar and I'm very happy for him," added Kohli. "He would have played the first game as well if he didn't have that niggle and he was very keen to step onto the field. "As a left-arm spinner, when you get the kind of pitch that's turning square, he was all smiles and he couldn't wait to get the ball in his hand."I hope he builds it up from here and has a strong couple of games going forward, so that he's always in the mix to play cricket for India." .

Poker in Print: Poker with presence: Unlocking the final 15% (2020)
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Some poker books that apply to strategy look at the specifics of your poker game and break them down bit by bit, building them up with stronger foundations. Either that or starting afresh, giving poker players new knowledge to fight with. What about a poker strategy book, however, that presumes the poker player in question already has the first 85% of the game taken care of?This week, Jason Su, the author of Poker with Presence: Unlocking the Final 15%, spoke on Twitter about the power of Fedor Holz’s magnetizing presence at the table and how it was the inspiration for him writing this book, published last May independently by the author himself. The notion of having a presence at the poker table is, of course, both an elusive one and something that some might argue is counter-productive. Some of the best players fade into the felt but make millions. So why should a poker player want to have a magnetic table presence?Well, the book goes a long way to explaining exactly this and can be used effectively as a guidebook to feeling comfortable at the poker table. Enjoying playing poker can benefit the player immensely and Su’s book is given some glowing references by a couple of really prominent voices in the industry.Matt Berkey said of the author: “I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Jason and I promise his wealth of knowledge on emotional intelligence and its application in a risk-based business is an untapped, hidden edge that few explore. Can’t recommend his work enough.”He’s not the only player to throw his weight behind Su’s work. Tommy Angelo, who we spoke to about his YouTube series with Lee Jones, Poker Simple, as well as dissecting his own legendary poker book, Elements of Poker, was happy to recommend the book. Angelo said, “I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to improve at poker, and anything else.”High praise indeed. While Jason Su has been a successful poker player, this is his first published book, but it doesn’t read like it for a second. We were really impressed with the arguments put forward and anecdotal and evidentiary points that contribute to the volume. There’s a lot more to come from Su in writing about poker, we’re sure, and for anyone considering how they can add that comfort and ‘X Factor’ to a successful poker game, this could be the perfect book to pick up and dive into whenever you need a pick-me-up.Whether you want some quick advice on improving your own table presence or want to look deeper into mindfulness, exercises and concepts that you won’t read in your regular poker strategy book, you should take a look at buying Jason Su’s Poker with Presence right here.

RB Leipzig vs Liverpool: 5 players to watch out for | UEFA Champions League 2020-21
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Liverpool will take on RB Leipzig in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round-of-16 tie on Tuesday, with the game set to be played at the Puskas Arena in Hungary.RB Leipzig will be slight favourites heading into the game because of their recent form. The East Germans have won four out of their last five games in all competitions and are in a good run of form.Liverpool, meanwhile, are in a tough spell and have lost their last three games. Jurgen Klopp’s men have been hampered by injuries and will head into the clash as underdogs. Both Klopp and Julian Nagelsmann have some good players nevertheless, and it is likely to be an entertaining tie when the two sides square off. So without further ado, let’s take a look at five players to watch from the tie:#1 Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)Mohamed Salah, the leading goal-scorer in the Premier League, has been in good form despite Liverpool’s poor run. Against a team like RB Leipzig, who are not expected to sit back, the Egyptian’s influence will be that much greater.Leipzig play a three-on-the-back system, so they are likely to double up on Salah when they don’t have the ball. However, considering how Leipzig press, Salah is likely to have more space to run into and attack come Tuesday.Salah is also pretty good at taking on defenders, especially when they are not sitting back during the transition. If he is on song, the Reds are more than likely to come up with an away goal or two.#2 Angelino (RB Leipzig) RB Leipzig's Angelino will be up against Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold on Tuesday Angelino’s impact at RB Leipzig has been so good that they did not even wait until the summer to make his loan move permanent. The former Manchester City wing-back has provided tenacity, drive and a few goals from the left wing and will be a threat to the Liverpool defence on Tuesday.Up against Trent Alexander-Arnold, who currently isn’t the most sound defensively, Angelino will fancy his chances. His work-rate is pretty impressive, so he will be a player to watch both on and off the ball.If he puts in a stellar display to help nullify the threat of Salah and test Alexander-Arnold, we could very well see Leipzig take a lead into the second leg. Tokyo Olympics organizers could choose new president this week-report
By admin | | 0 Comments |

(Photo by KIM KYUNG-HOON / POOL / AFP) TOKYO – Tokyo Olympic organizers could choose their new president as early as this week, a report said on Monday, after former chief Yoshiro Mori resigned over sexist remarks that provoked a global outcry. Local organizers need to “urgently” pick a new president with just five months left to prepare for the Games amid the COVID-19 pandemic and are setting up a selection committee made up of an equal number of men and women, the group’s chief executive Toshiro Muto said last week. The selection committee will hold its first meeting at the start of this week, Nippon TV reported, citing unidentified sources. Committee members will submit names of candidates in the days after and could select the new president as soon as this week, the report said. However, the process could carry over into next week if there is a large number of candidates, Nippon TV said. Among those being considered to succeed Mori are Olympic Minister Seiko Hashimoto, a pioneering female lawmaker and seven-time Olympian who is one of only two women in Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga’s cabinet, media have said. Hashimoto, born just days before the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, said on Friday she had not been asked to replace Mori. Others who have been floated to succeed Mori include Mikako Kotani, a two-time Olympian in synchronized swimming, now known as artistic swimming, who serves on the Japanese Olympic Committee, and Upper House lawmaker Tamayo Marukawa, a previous Olympics Minister. Media said another possible candidate was Daichi Suzuki, a former Olympic gold medalist backstroke swimmer who has served as commissioner of the Japan Sport Agency, an organisation aiming to promote sport nationwide. Another person being considered for the role was Koji Murofushi, a former Olympic gold medalist hammer thrower who has served as the agency’s commissioner since October after succeeding Suzuki. Mori’s handpicked successor, former Japan Football Association president Saburo Kawabuchi, 84, on Friday declined the job after publicly accepting it earlier, news reports said. The Summer Olympics, which were postponed last year due to the pandemic, are scheduled to open July 23. Read Next Don't miss out on the latest news and information. Joe Ingles passes Pistol Pete Maravich for seventh-most assists in Jazz history
By admin | | 0 Comments |

Their styles could hardly be more different. Pistol Pete Maravich was as flashy a ballhandler and passer the game has ever seen, the kind of player you couldn’t take your eyes off for fear you’d miss something spectacular. Joe Ingles, meanwhile, has heard every joke there is about his countenance on the basketball court and the way his game seems to lull teams to sleep. In either case, defenders have blinked at their own risk over the years. With a pass to Rudy Gobert in the first quarter Monday night, Ingles dished out the 1,845th assist of his careering, passing the famed Maravich for the seventh most assists in Jazz history. “Pistol Pete is such an icon,” Utah Jazz head coach Quin Snyder said. “He’s one of those players whose photograph you see in the facility or the arena and he clearly had such an impact on the game over a period of years. I know how much Joe respects him.” Joe passes Pistol Pete! #UltraMoment | @MichelobUltra pic.twitter.com/uycourxC2Y — utahjazz (@utahjazz) February 16, 2021 we did it, joe pic.twitter.com/mDobO75x6U — utahjazz (@utahjazz) February 16, 2021 Ingles, however, has never been one to focus on personal accolades and records. “I also know Joe’s really thinking about our team and working on his game,” Snyder said. “Usually when you do that, the results happen. He’s been passing the ball so well. It’s certainly emblematic of the career he’s had here and how unselfish he’s been. I know that’s not something he’s striving for, in and of itself, but certainly it shows what an effective player he’s been and how unselfish he is.” Ingles’ assists have been spread out over 42 different teammates during his time with the Jazz. His favorite targets? Rudy Gobert — 386 Derrick Favors — 276 Donovan Mitchell — 180 Gordon Hayward — 105 Ricky Rubio — 95 Bojan Bogdanovic — 81 Jae Crowder — 76 Royce O’Neale — 65 Dante Exum — 46 Jordan Clarkson — 37    Ingles is averaging 4.7 dimes per game this season, putting him on pace to pass Nos. 5 and 6 on the Jazz all-time list — Jeff Hornacek (1,895) and Andrei Kirilenko (1,919) — before year’s end. Catching up to John Stockton’s NBA record 15,806 assists would take a little longer than that.

Devils return from COVID pause, will play Rangers on Tuesday
By admin | | 0 Comments |

The New Jersey Devils are back.  Per ESPN, the Devils returned to the practice ice on Monday ahead of Tuesday's game at the New York Rangers after being on a coronavirus-related pause since earning a victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Jan. 31. In total, 19 Devils players landed on the NHL's COVID-19 list amid the reported outbreak that resulted in the postponements of seven games.  "It's kind of unfortunate and it's kind of crazy how fast it spreads," Devils forward Miles Wood told reporters on Monday. "I think that's the scariest part. You know, it took down a team within a matter of three days, so it's very serious."  Winger Kyle Palmieri added that Devils players have followed the league's health and safety protocols such as wearing proper face coverings and avoiding social gatherings.  "We're spending an hour or two hours, however, over the course of a game next to each other on a bench breathing heavily and I mean, playing hockey is a tough sport," Palmieri said. "You're coming back and you're pretty gassed and you're trying to catch your breath. So that's a lot of close contact, heavy breathing. You read enough about this virus, that's probably one of the worst things you can do is long extended times of heavy breathing among people without masks." The Devils have completed an East-division low nine games on the season and have earned 10 points. New Jersey is the only team not yet in double-digits as it pertains to games played.
